Disneyland Gray Line Ticket Book - May 1971

This just in, these scans are courtesy of the Gorilla that doesn't blog, thank you Major!!!!

From May 1971, Major's Gray Line ticket book has its Main Gate admission ticket still attached (I think all the ticket books in Majors collection have the admission ticket still attached - wow!) It appears this admission ticket is different than the standard Main Gate ticket of 1971, this one has Tinker Bell - WOW - I've never seen one of these!

Nice LOW serial number, notice the "G" in the sequence, that was also on yesterday's June 1974 ticket book.

Thanks again Major!

Disneyland Gray Line Ticket Book - June 1974

From June 1974, here’s an odd ticket book. Gray Line Tours (link) was such a large tour company that they got their very own Disneyland ticket book!

The Main Gate admission ticket is missing, it appears to be the standard “green’ ticket, but I can’t tell for certain.

The tickets are all “E” tickets and a very different from any other tickets sold at the park. Neato drawings huh? My favorite is the Haunted Mansion on the upper left.

The attraction page has a slightly different font than the standard ticket book, I like it. Noteworthy; “America Sings Opens July 1974” and no more Pack Mules…

America on Parade - Grand Finale - September 12, 1976

Sometimes even good things must come to an end… Disneyland is no exception as America on Parade floated through its Grand Finale on September 12, 1976. Hey, I really like that Castle drawing with the fireworks, wow! The wavy flag is pretty cool too.

Opening up the flyer we find these details; The Grand Finale included “the music of massed bands and choirs in Town Square and Central Plaza”. I wonder what the official Bicentennial flag looked like (one of these?) and where did it end up?

For being 34 years old this sticker looks, feels and smells like new. Yes it still has that waxy sticker smell.

Magic Kingdom Club - 1980

Ready for more Magic Kingdom Club goodness? From May 1980, here’s the Club price guide. Remember, these ticket prices are NOT for the general public!

Operating Hours - still closed Monday’s and Tuesday’s for the off season.

Here’s a 1980 Passport. By 1980 they had abandoned the little “hole & string” idea, I’ve seen these with safety pin holes, but this ticket must have been kept in the guest's shirt pocket.

No date on the back, just Globe Ticket company’s weird little logo and “S 260” which appears on lots of non-lettered tickets and I still have no idea what it means?

How about an 11 adventure “All E ticket” book?

I like how Dumbo is used on the Magic Kingdom Club banner!

By 1980, the courtesy and MKC ticket books no longer had a separate “Welcome” sheet, its combined on the first page with the first of 11 “1/2” sheet tickets.

Although these little tickets are for ANY attraction (basically all E tickets) the small size makes them seem less valuable.

1980’s attraction list is quite impressive!

Since we're all vintage Magic Kingdom Club members here on the blog, lets check out the 1980 membership guide.

Neat photo of Alice and her buddies in Fantasyland and is Goofy trying to tell us something?

1980 is Disneyland’s Family Reunion year.

What a great grand prize, round trip airfare, a 5 night stay at Disneyland and $1,955.00 is CASH!! Canada residents have to answer a “skill testing question” should they win. This contest in only open to MKC members, is that fair?

You’ve got lots of choices for your vacation stay at Anaheim.

Awesome Knott’s photo!

Opens December 21st, I can’t wait!

Disneyland's Summer of 100 Million Smiles & Dixieland and all that Jazz - September 6-11, 1971

It’s Disneyland’s Summer of 100 Million Smiles! From September 1971 this parking lot flyer is all smiles!

Disneyland’s 12th annual Dixieland now includes “all that Jazz” and covers six nights instead of just one night as did previous Dixieland’s. Fireworks on the River???

Buy the Deluxe 15 book, it’s your best value and you might have tickets left over to sell to some weird ticket collector 40 years later.

Don’t forget where you parked!

What do you suppose was purchased at the “One-of-a -kind Shop” for $3.95 on September 7, 1971?

And since were focused on Dixieland and all the Jazz, here’s a rebroadcast of my post from September 2008 (link) that features a super press kit on the event.

===================================================

News from Disneyland! It’s time for Dixieland and All that Jazz! This press release from September 1971 details the 12th annual “Dixieland and All that Jazz” and its six night celebration.

Here is the press guest sticker, it was never used and still looks like it has plenty of that industrial sticky stuff under the peel-away parts on the back.

The description sheet for the press photo of the Mark Twain in full “Dixieland and All that Jazz” get up.

What the heck is strapped to the front of the Mark Twain, bails of hay? And look just to the right of the hay stacks, is that a person wearing a hood or is their back to us? Weird…

Summary of the press event for September 6th, 1971.

Four pages of details, Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Wonder and tons more, wow, what a stellar event!

If you’re still yearning for 1971, check out a couple of my prior posts.

Disneyland Brochure Comparison - 1968 & 1970

Time for another fun Brochure comparison. Today’s very similar brochures are just a few years apart so spotting the differences is a challenge. What’s even more fun is the first brochure, the “pink” version, is not dated! It must be from at least 1967, but could be as late summer 1969. There is no Haunted Mansion noted, I do see a “Gun Collection” in Frontierland and the C & H Sugar Corner on Main Street. I would guess it’s from 1968.

This “green” version is from December 1970. You’ll notice on the map that the guest marked the attractions they visited – they missed some good ones!

And in case you missed my post from July 2008 (link) here’s a re-broadcast of two more similar brochures, the “blue1976 version and the “brown1979 version.

From June 1976, it’s the “blue” version. I noticed the Mine Train ride making one of its last appearances…

From February 1979, it’s the “brown” version. A neat Space Mountain promo. No Big Thunder Mountain yet, its got about 7 months till its ready. Hey, the map drawing has the old Mine Train still!
